Homeowner Struck by Intruder in Nighttime Break-In, Police Say

A San Marino homeowner was reportedly confronted and struck by an intruder during a break-in early Friday, and authorities seek to determine whether the incident is connected to a separate burglary hours earlier.
According to the San Marino Police Department, a man who lives in the 1200 block of Adair Street awoke at 1:09 a.m. Dec. 27 in his upstairs bedroom when the male intruder walked in. The intruder confronted and struck the victim “several times” before fleeing, police said.
Hours earlier, at around 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, another residential burglary was reported at a home in the 1300 block of Monterey Place. Police said that nobody was home during that break-in, but that video surveillance may link the two crimes.
The primary suspect is described as black, standing 5 feet, 11 inches or 6 feet tall, weighing 180-200 pounds and wearing a dark-color hoodie, gray sweatpants, dark gloves and light-color Nike shoes. A dark sedan is believed to be a getaway vehicle and there may be three or four other unidentified people involved with the burglaries, police added.
Those with any information are urged to contact Detective Kevin Cordischi at (626) 300-0726.
