SMHS’ Valentina Liu hits a long jumper against rival South Pasadena High School.
Anyone entering Dingus Memorial Fieldhouse last Thursday afternoon might have guessed San Marino and South Pasadena high schools’ girls’ varsity basketball teams were squaring off for the Rio Hondo League championship. A glance at the scoreboard told a different story: SMHS eventually was defeated 71-24. Despite the result, the host Lady Titans and coach Annie Yee enthusiastically approached the season finale while honoring seniors Jocelyn Chang and Lisa Lu.
Sophomore Elaina Lee led SMHS with eight points, with support from Chloe Wing (five points), Chang (four points), junior Emily Ting (three points) and Lu and Valentina Liu, who each added a field goal.
The Lady Titans wrapped up the season with a 4-16 overall record and 2-6 mark in league play.
