Nancy Wilson Sechrest

Aug. 30, 1939-Feb. 26, 2020

Long-time resident and former San Marino Fabrics business owner Nancy Wilson Sechrest passed away on Feb. 26 at the age of 80. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eldric Normand Sechrest Jr. (Bud), she was the loving mother of Mitchell Sechrest (Dorothy Sechrest) of Orange, California, and Stacey Sechrest Carder (Ezekiel Carder) of Mill Valley, California. She also leaves behind a grandson, Jacob Carder.
Nancy was born in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Inez and Homer Wilson. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1961 where she met Bud while working at the college radio station — she as an engineer and he as a disk jockey. Among a long, highly varied career across food and residential interior design and construction, she was the owner of San Marino Fabrics on Huntington Drive in the 1980s. Nancy will be remembered for her intellect, warmth, unmatched organizational skills and love of learning and appreciating art, cuisine, fashion, textiles, architecture and design.
Remembrances of Nancy Wilson Sechrest can be made to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art where she was a member and visitor for many years.
