SMHS Grad Receives Dean’s Scholarship From NYU

Katherine Norton, a freshman at New York University, received the Dean’s Scholarship upon her admission.

Katherine Norton, a recent graduate of San Marino High School, received the Dean’s Scholarship from the College of Arts and Sciences upon her recent entrance to New York University, where she will major in molecular biology. The scholarship covers Norton’s tuition for four years.
Norton also was selected to the Presidential Honors Scholars program at NYU, which offers recipients opportunities to complete the honors track in their major and participate in the scholars lecture series, cultural activities, community service, service-learning projects, honors research and a chance to study off-campus at one of NYU’s global network sites. Norton is an accomplished oboist who played in San Marino High School’s symphonic orchestra and wind ensemble. She also was principal oboe in the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra for a remarkable 12 seasons.
She was also a member of San Marino High School’s girls soccer program and was named best midfielder for the Lady Titan junior varsity squad at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.
The daughter of Fei Chen and Charles Norton, Katherine has a sister, Allison, who is a junior at San Marino High School. Katherine received an acknowledgement for Outstanding Achievement in Mandarin at SMHS’s year-end awards ceremony.
