The Pasadena Tournament of Roses on Tuesday announced special performances and celebrity guests for the “The Rose Parade’s New Year Celebration,” a virtual event on Jan. 1 that will stand in for the traditional parade, which was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The reimagined celebration of the new year will feature musical entertainment and celebrity guest appearances. The event sponsored by Honda will be aired through the Tournament’s six broadcast partners.
Music will be performed by artists including Sheryl Crow, Mickey Guyton, Tori Kelly, Lady A, Rascal Flatts and the War and Treaty.
Celebrity guests will include actor and singer Daddy Yankee, actresses Shanola Hampton and Dascha Polanco, Olympic medal-winning gymnast Laurie Hernandez, chef and author Emeril Lagasse, former USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart, legendary Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully, actor Gary Sinise and actress Rita Moreno, a winner of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.
Lagasse and Sinise, former Rose Parade grand marshals, will both be featured in the special, with Sinise opening the show and Lagasse shaking up his favorite cocktails.
The TV special will also feature marching band performances, heartwarming segments related to the Rose Parade, special Rose Bowl Game football highlights, equestrians, spectacular floats from years past, a behind-the-scenes look into the making of a float and New Year’s Day wishes from fans around the world.
The special will air on ABC, Hallmark Channel, KTLA, NBC and RFD-TV at 8 a.m. and on Univision at 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 1. To limit travel and ensure the safety of the event’s talent, performance segments were filmed at iconic locations: the Grand Ole Opry and the Rose Bowl Stadium. To keep everyone safe, all new footage for the special was filmed using the strictest COVID-19 safety protocols.
