Majors
Blue Jays 15, Orioles 8 – The Blue Jays pecked away at the Orioles’ pitching staff, collecting 14 hits with Nathan “Momo” Cai, Lars Dietrick, Zach Attanasio, Mark Hiddleson and Mason Slater racking up two hits apiece. The Jays played strong defense, with DeAngelo “DLo” Bridge robbing Aidan Epstein of an extra-base hit with a nice catch in center field. Although the Orioles tried to mount a late-game rally, Jays ace pitcher Cai clipped their wings in the final inning, retiring the side to end the game.
Dodgers 8, Nationals 6 – In an exciting game with several lead changes, the teams entered the fourth inning tied 3-3 when the Nationals’ Lucy Schmoke belted a two-run double. In the bottom of the fifth, the Dodgers pulled even with an RBI triple from Becket Halpin and an RBI single from Connor McKinney. The Dodgers took the lead for good in the same inning on a thundering RBI double down the line off the bat of Luke Phillips.
AAA Minors
Dodgers 14, Giants 9 – The Dodgers were led by Aidan Anido with a double and two singles, Kiran Karlekar collected a nice hit, and starting pitcher Aidan Gunther starting had five strikeouts in two innings, followed by excellent relief performances by Nick Smith (two strikeouts) and Hudson Sawran. Both Johnny Javelera and Max Gutierrez had some great defensive plays to prevent runs from scoring and Gustavo “Goose” Moncho also made a fine defensive play. The Giants were led offensively with solid hitting by Henry Van Dyke, Wyatt Arnold and Evan Isaak. Mason Rodriguez and Andrew Street pitched well for the Giants.
Cubs 14, Nationals 9 – In a back-and-forth battle, the Cubs were led by Justin Medrano, Joey Montagano, Smith Sanderson and Dominic Zepeda, who each contributed two hits. Pierce McLemore drove in a run and made an outstanding catch on a scorching line drive at second base. West Dunton had a couple great hits on the Nationals. Ethan Friedman started the game and struck out three batters while his battery mate, Eli Vranes, had a big hit at the plate and made some stellar defensive plays behind the plate.
Giants 11, Nationals 8 – Paz Jespersen opened the scoring for the Nationals with an RBI single in the first inning, and pitcher West Dunton struck out five batters in relief. Defensively for the Giants, right fielder Cian Byrne gunned down a runner trying to advance to second with a pin-point throw in the bottom of the first. Andrew Alexander added two hits for the Giants, including an RBI double in the fourth inning, and recorded the final three outs on the mound.
AA Minors
Cubs 20, Dodgers 10 – Mason Wong, Sam Gelberg and Justin Romero led the Cubs, who improved their record to 4-0. For the Dodgers, slugger Benjamin Stones and Greyson Rabins both went 3 for 4. Jack Connolly and Dominic Torosian started a rally with solid hitting and baserunning.
Yankees 16, Dodgers 9 – Marcelo Arzapalo belted a long single that cleared the bases. Benjamin Stones led the Dodgers on the offensive side with both great hitting and baserunning. Nixon Saponara and Greyson Rabins connected for an out at first. Catcher Howard Buckingham caught a foul at the backstop for an out.
Cubs 16, Red Sox 3 – The Cubs players all had hits with Sam Gelberg and Ryen Munoz leading the charge with multiple RBIs. Justin Romero and Mason Wong made several nice defensive plays at pitcher and shortstop. The Red Sox were led by Cannon Hanish and William Kohorst, who made several key defensive plays. On offense, Douglas Miranda, Sebastian Gardner and Violet Perrigue contributed with multiple hits.
Farm Division
Giants vs. Yankees – The Giants played their best game of the season so far with a record six players recording outs: Leo Alexander (two outs at first base), Christian Anaya, Jonah Gelberg, Hridhaan Mittal (two outs), Henry Roddick and Tiago Lopez. At the top of the order, Hudson Biggins started the Giants off with a monster line drive that set the pace for the team offensively. The Yankees played some tough defense with putouts by Milo Miller, Gavin Holiday and Henry Yuan. Alexander Awad made three unassisted putouts in one inning. The offense was paced by Bode Allen, Liam Drine-MacNeil, James LaBonge and Eli Gutierrez, who collected three hits apiece.
Tee ball
Hot Rods vs. Rattlers – The Hot Rods’ Logan Hasbun hit two grand slams on his birthday while Lochlan Laverty made his case for a Gold Glove Award by fielding grounders all over the diamond. Meanwhile, June Givens circled the bases with an inside-the-park homerun.
The Grasshoppers Maya Patel exhibited strong fielding skills as she hustled for balls that were hit into the outfield, then always finished her plays with a strong throw to first base. Kevin Jiang had some powerful hits into the outfield.
