With the start of school, off-season work sessions of the San Marino High School Titanium Robotics team are now in full swing. Members and captains are meeting at the robotics room and have been training in their respective fields, ranging from electrical and mechanical engineering, programming, CAD (computer aided design), and business.
Additionally, new members have been “safety trained” by the safety captain, Gavin Morris, and accommodated themselves with the ins-and-outs of the robotics room. Furthermore, dedicated members have been hard at work on assembling evacuation signs for staff on campus, in which they completed for each class after a week of work sessions.
Driven by the objectives of attending competitions, on making improvements toward the T-shirt cannon, and attending football games, though early, has been met with immediate success.
The team meets three times a week from 3:30-5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in room 308. Preseason has just begun and it’s never too late to experience all that Titanium Robotics has to offer. Titanium Robotics is a team consisting of more than 100 students, primarily from San Marino High School, who come together with a common interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students learn from professional engineers and mentors to build and compete in the annual FIRST Robotics Challenge with a robot of their own design. Programming, electrical work, computer-aided design and business management are all run by student representatives, making the entire organization student-led from start to finish.
