First published in the Nov. 4 print issue of the San Marino Tribune.

San Marino Partnership for Awareness will bring Sucheta Kamath — an award-winning speech-language pathologist, TEDx speaker and tech-entrepreneur — as its next speaker in this school year’s speaker series.
She will focus on supporting parents by discussing, “The Boss Brain: Executive Function,” and will share strategies to help children and teens develop self-awareness and independence.

“I’m excited to partner with Partnership for Awareness to empower our students with the skills they need to thrive not only in our schools, but in life,” Sucheta said. “By teaming up to teach our students executive function skills, our kids will learn strategies for becoming resilient, engaged, collaborative thinkers, contributors and caring citizens.”
Attendees will benefit from several outcomes, including understanding the role of the “boss brain,” or the frontal lobes, and emergence of executive function in helping develop independent and self-sufficient children. They will also learn to identify the life-long implication of strong executive function while learning three evidence-based executive function strategies that strengthen resilience through emotional courage, mindfulness and open-minded, adaptive flexibility.
The event will be online, Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting ID is 860 8496 8784, with a passcode of 364819.
Through the speaker series, Partnership for Awareness provides the community with knowledge and skills to facilitate the successful navigation of important issues impacting children.
“Together, we can help all our students become advocates for their own educational journey and enable them with equitable strategies they need to develop a lifelong passion for learning,” Kamath said.
