Rotary Honors Four With Barth Scholarships

The Rotary Club of San Marino recently honored four local high school seniors with Barth scholarships.

Juan Luis Silva Munoz, who attends Southwestern Academy, was joined on the dais by fellow recipients Stanley Wong, Anika Kesavalu and Lucas Levy, all of whom attend San Marino High School.

Munoz is a member of Southwestern’s varsity baseball, soccer, volleyball and basketball teams. He is also the president of Southwestern’s Environmental Association, a member of the Southwestern Art Society and a campus ambassador.

Kesavalu a member of San Marino High School’s speech and debate team, as well as Link Crew. She has been a member of the National Charity League for seven years, Girl Scouts of America for 10 years, Boys and Girls Club of America and the Indo-American Foundation.

Wong has been in theater, dance and choir all through high school and is also a member of the Comedy Sport team. He is also a member of Link Crew, Random Acts of Kindness and has held various class cabinet positions, including vice president of the senior class.

Levy is the current president of the Associated Student Body and was class president during his freshman, sophomore and junior years. He has been on the cross-country and track and field teams all four years of high school and on the soccer team for three years. He is also a member of the SMHS Interact Club.

The Barth Rotary Scholarship Endowment is in recognition of Andy Barth’s long history of donations to Rotary charities.
