San Marino High School’s girls’ swim team continues its fine season with four swimmers qualifying for the CIF State meet, which will be held today at Clovis West High School in Clovis. The CIF competition is “open,” meaning that the traditional CIF divisions are not used.
Seniors Sabrina Wang and Sophia Yao will be joined by juniors Arwen Wen and Amber Paul to comprise the Titans’ 200-yard freestyle relay team, which two weeks ago set a school and Rio Hondo League championship meet record with a clocking of 1:37.98 at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Yao also qualified in the 50-yard freestyle and Paul is an alternate in the 100-yard butterfly.
“These girls have done exceptionally well,” said head coach Mark Barr. “Their time in the relay was an automatic state qualifying time. They have had a very solid work ethic this year and it is paying off.”
San Marino’s girls’ swim team finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record in dual meets, which includes a 5-0 mark the Titans amassed while winning the Rio Hondo League championship.
