While the “Back to School” season is always about change, the San Marino Council of PTAs is proud to be a constant for our school community.
Our focus has been, and continues to be, the steadfast support of our students, parents, teachers and staff as we navigate another exciting school year.
After serving in the PTAs at Carver, Huntington Middle School and San Marino High School, it is my humble privilege to take on the role of council president this year. There is so much to do and so much to celebrate. I hope we can continue to forward the amazing accomplishments of our schools while fostering the connections that make our community so special.
Through the years, my three children have been nurtured and guided by exceptional teachers and staff, as well as a wealth of programs that have brought them joy both inside and outside the traditional classroom. So much of this is due to the generosity of time and talent from our San Marino families. And now, with a graduating senior and Grad Night 2023 just around the corner, we are able to look back on thirteen incredible years. Our family is deeply grateful for these memories which will last a lifetime.
As council president, I have the honor of working with four experienced and talented school site PTA presidents. Between the dedication and passion of Nicolette Fuerst (SMHS), Jennifer Kang (HMS), Mikah O’Mara (Carver) and Erin Clougherty (Valentine) — along with their respective boards — the San Marino PTAs are in capable and caring hands. We look forward to embracing our new families, teachers and administrators as we embark on this year’s journey together.
Let’s all reconnect: restoring traditions as we embrace positive change. Please join the PTAs at your school sites and be a part of your student’s education. Your engagement strengthens our schools, empowers our community and inspires our children. As always, the PTA is grateful for all your support.

Jacqueline Tran Chuang is PTA Council president 2022-23.
