Seniors to Be Swept Away for Solvang Day

The Community Services Department will host a senior trip to Solvang on Monday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The deadline to reserve a spot is Sunday, April 30.
This trip is one of the many daytime excursions the department offers, taking community members to visit some of Southern California’s finest museums, theaters and landmarks on a luxury charter bus to each destination. Transportation to and from each trip is included.
Solvang trip attendees can expect to spend the afternoon shopping for authentic gifts such as wooden shoes, cuckoo clocks and unique clothing. Along the way, the travelers will have the opportunity to stop at a few of the local bakeries and confectionaries for traditional Danish treats like “aebleskiver” — a fluffy, donut hole-type treat that can be found at various locations, including Solvang Restaurant’s walk-up window serving Arne’s famous “aebleskivers.”
Additionally, wine-tasting rooms line the streets of Solvang, featuring Rhone-, Burgundian- and Bordeaux-style wines. Each guest will have lunch at Pea Soup Andersen’s, including a bowl of their famous split pea soup, a flaky croissant sandwich, dessert and a beverage, with tax and gratuity included.
The cost of the trip is $116 for residents and $135 for nonresidents.
To register, visit CityofSanMarino.org/Registration, or visit the recreation office at 1560 Pasqualito Drive.
