Charles Richard Adams

Charles R. (Chuck) Adams passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on October 25, 2022. Chuck was born to Dr. Alan & Florence Adams on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938. He was raised in the west Los Angeles neighborhood of Cheviot Hills where he earned Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, was elected to California Boys State (1955) and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School (1956).

Chuck earned bachelor (1960) and master’s degrees (1962) in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, where he was affiliated with Pi Kappa Alpha and the Trojan Knights fraternities. On May 1, 1965, Chuck married his wife, Sally Menefee at San Marino Community Church. Chuck and ”Super” Sally were married 56 years and lived in San Marino for more than 4 decades. For twenty-five years, Chuck was a Vice President and an economist for Security Pacific National Bank. In that position, he served as Los Angeles Chapter President for the National Association for Business Economists (1982-83).

Chuck was an active volunteer and leader for various community organizations, including San Marino City Club, (President, 1996) San Marino Little League Baseball, Boy Scout Troop 358, San Marino Schools Foundation, San Marino Strategic Planning Committee (1989-90) and San Marino Community Church.

In retirement, Chuck enjoyed an active lifestyle around his grandchildren, USC Trojan Football and Basketball, and travelling with Sally. They visited all 50 states and more than 40 countries, including the Principality of San Marino. Chuck continued to volunteer to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses (20+ Years), including many years on the Queen and Court Committee.

Chuck is survived by son Rick Adams (Jami) of Ladera Ranch, son Steve Adams (Michelle Paturel) of Yorba Linda, his grandchildren, Hanna, Haley, Sawyer, and Matthew, sister-in-law, Jane M. Overall, and his 3 nephews, niece, and their families.

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Sally Adams, his parents, Alan and Florence Adams, sister Kathryn Adams, his parents-in-law, Ardinger and Mary Jane Menefee of San Marino, brother-in-law Thomas Cooper Overall, and many dear friends.

A private, graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn, Glendale. Chuck Adams has left a legacy of devotion, and dedication to his beloved family, to his friends, neighbors, and hometown. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the City of Hope Cancer Research Hospital.
