H. John Yingling

John Yingling, 83, of San Marino, California, died of natural causes on Jan. 17, 2023, with his family by his side.
Harold John Yingling Jr. was born in Los Angeles to Harold John Yingling and Elizabeth Fliniau Yingling. He grew up in Pasadena and graduated from Flintridge Prep in 1957 as senior class president and valedictorian. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from USC.
After attending Navy OCS at Newport, Rhode Island, he served as an officer in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was later stationed in Sicily.
John married Peggy Everett of San Diego in 1973. They were married for 49 years and have been residents of San Marino for 47 years. John and Peggy had many adventures together, including cruises to Hawaii, the Holy Land, Italy, Spain, Australia, and frequent trips to La Jolla and Solvang.
He enjoyed a 35-year career in the television industry beginning at CBS, then as director of production at KCET. He then worked at ABC-TV as director of administration, West Coast, for nearly 20 years, followed by several years at the Museum of Television and Radio and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He completed his career working for LAUSD as a local district facilities director until his retirement.
He is survived by Peggy, his daughter Alisa Ann, son Brian (Alisa Joy), and four grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, Neal.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, at Saints Felicitas & Perpetua Catholic Church, 1190 Palomar Road, San Marino.
