James Paul Edmondson, a long-time resident of San Marino, CA, passed away at his home on July 19, 2022.

Son of Dr. Hugh Allen Edmondson and Dorothy Mossman Edmondson, James is survived by his four children, Lisa Edmondson Tanous, Cynthia Edmondson Zeigler, Amy Edmondson Whitney, and Michael Allen Edmondson, as well as five grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Marian Edmondson Merrell and Marjorie Edmondson Habermann, and a brother, Dr. Hugh Allen Edmondson.
James graduated from Pasadena High School (now Pasadena City College) and earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 1954, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He then obtained a Masters of Business Administration in 1956 from Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, IL.
He was married to Anne Marquardt Edmondson from 1958-1993.
James was a very successful real estate developer, founding and presiding over the Great American Land Company, Northwest Hotel Corporation, and the Affirmed Corporation, with hotels, restaurants and office buildings in California and Florida.
Mr. Edmondson was an avid sports fan and participant. His heart belonged to the USC Trojan football team, and he could recite scores, plays, and statistics on his beloved team dating back to the 1940’s with uncanny accuracy.
Tennis and golf with his friends also provided many hours of enjoyment over the years.
His business tenacity, sense of humor, and creative spirit will be missed.
