Janice Rutt Hamilton

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Janice Hamilton passed

away peacefully on July 8, 2022, in Newport Beach, California, with her husband, Jack, at her side.

Janice was born June 29, 1945, in Los Angeles and lived in Huntington

Park, California, until her marriage to Jack in 1966. At Huntington Park High School she was active in student government and was also Homecoming Queen and an AFS exchange student to Brazil. During her childhood, she spent most summers and many weekends on Balboa Island.

Janice attended University of California Santa Barbara, University of

Southern California and then nursing school at Pasadena City College, where she graduated valedictorian of her class.

She met her husband, Jack, at age 11 and they were married in 1966 in South Pasadena. Janice and her family were residents of San Marino for 48 years. She spent 41 years of her nursing career as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where she used her skills and caring nature for both her tiny patients and their parents.

Janice was an avid scuba diver, seamstress and reader. She loved to

travel and had many wonderful trips throughout the world with her family.

Janice is survived by her husband; her daughter, Juliandra Rittmann; her

son, Jack Hamilton III, and his wife, Callie; grandchildren, Max and Ryan

Rittmann, Kuhen, Dylan and Keaton Hamilton; and Janice’s brother, Loring Rutt.

She was a beautiful person, inside and out, ever optimistic and supportive

of her family, friends and neonatal community.

Tributes in Janice’s name can be made to the neonatal intensive care unit

at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena or to a local humane society.
