Martha (Beth) Kinyon Arterberry, 88 of Palm Desert, died Saturday, April 29, 2023 after a long illness.  Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the only child of Annie Bond and Robert Kinyon.  She grew up in Hyde Park, and  attended the University of Chicago.  Beth moved to California when she married John D. Arterberry in 1958.

Beth lived most of her life in San Marino and Palm Springs, California.  She was a long-time member of the USC chapter of Medical Faculty Wives, and she served on the PTA at Stoneman Elementary School, Huntington Junior High School, and San Marino High School. She also served as a civilian volunteer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department, receiving a number of awards for her dedication and program development.  After moving to Palm Springs, she was a docent at the Palm Springs Art Museum.  As a ham radio operator, she joined Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) and volunteered for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), which focused on disaster preparedness in the Coachella Valley.

Beth is survived by her daughters Martha Arterberry of Waterville, ME, and Carrie Susan Arterberry of Sister Bay, Wisconsin, her son John Arterberry of Yucca Valley, CA, grandchildren Skyler Champeau, Sydney Champeau, Spencer Champeau, and Allison Arterberry, and great-grandchild Leila Champeau.
