Obituary | Teena Lynn Pitts

Teena Lynn Pitts

Teena Lynn (Martin) Pitts died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, October 18, 2020. The beloved daughter of Kathryn Louise Martin, Teena was born in Charleston, West Virginia, in 1948. Her family moved to California in 1960, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Pitts, in 1967. She was a teacher at Alhambra City Schools for over 35 years.
A San Marino resident since 1975, Teena joined San Marino Community Church in 1983 and was a devoted member, serving twice as an elder and in other leadership roles, and singing in the Chancel Choir — one of her great joys in life.
Exceptionally giving and energetic, Teena volunteered for several local organizations, including Las Alas Assistance League of Arcadia and the Women’s Committee of the Pasadena Symphony Association, and was a court-appointed special advocate for children with CASA of Los Angeles.
Teena is survived by her loving husband of 53 years and her grateful son, Wesley Pitts, over whom she doted. She was a radiant woman who brightened the lives she touched and cherished the friendship of many remarkable women in the San Marino community.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date when friends and family can gather safely. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute to a worthy cause that is meaningful to you, as Teena had so faithfully done throughout her life.
