Muse/ique Presents ‘Etta at Last’ Oct. 13-14

Muse/ique will present “Etta at Last” on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 13-14, at the Huntington in San Marino. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for cocktail hour and music will begin at 7:30 p.m.
“All we ever needed to make our lives whole was the voice of Etta James,” a statement from Muse/ique said. “Born in Los Angeles in 1938, her storied career came to symbolize the multi-layered creative innovations of our city. She made the world’s best musicians — from Elvis to B.B. King to Chuck Berry — even better. And with her vocal magic, she masterfully blended the best of the American sound — from blues, R&B, and soul to rock, jazz and gospel.
“In this life-affirming performance, we explore Etta’s influences (from Billie Holiday to gospel and beyond), celebrate our favorite Etta songs — including one never released — and relive her most famous collaborations.”
Muse/ique’s special guest is Grammy-winning guitarist Josh Sklair, who had co-written with James. The event will also feature vocalists Kecia Lewis, Briana Lee and Ashley Faatoalia; Tim Carmon on piano; Jonathan Richards on bass; Jamey Tate on drums/arrangements; dancers from the Lula Washington Dance Theatre; and Los Angeles Vocal Artists (LAVA) led by Jeffrey Bernstein.
Muse/ique is requiring proof of vaccination upon entry to all events.
Concessions will be available for purchase. Due to venue regulations, no outside food or beverage will be permitted.
