The San Marino Garden Club’s monthly meeting, held recently at the Hill-Harbison House, featured a special “Cooking With Roses” lecture and demonstration by Judy Polinsky. Polinsky is the author of “Delicious Rose-Flavored Desserts: A Modern and Fragrant Take on Classic Recipes,” which offers more than 50 original 18th century recipes and comparisons to modern versions created by Polinsky and her team. The author also shared the culinary process through which she created the most authentic and delicious versions of the original recipes from the Georgian-era (1714-1830). Club members were able to get their books signed after the presentation. They learned which roses to use to create homemade rosewater to use for everyday cooking and baking. The club also welcomed a new member, Connie Ching. In March, the club will have a special curator tour at the Huntington Library.
