The San Marino Garden Club recently held its annual holiday tea at the home of club member and past president Lainnie Capouya. The hospitality chairs Shana Bayat and Debra Spaulding put together a lovely event with tea, wine, champagne, a variety of finger sandwiches and desserts. Members and guests enjoyed Christmas music played by pianist Jackie Johnson. Mayor Steven Huang joined the event on his last day in office, along with new incoming Mayor Gretchen Shepherd Romey, former Mayor Rary Simmons, city librarian Irene McDermott, board of education Vice President Shelley Ryan, city of San Marino Environmental Services Manager Ron Serven and director of the Botanical Gardens at the Huntington Library James Folsom.
Next month, the garden club will have a special aroma therapy presentation and hands-on workshop with member Mayumi Onami of Scent of Lavender Skin Care on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Crowell Public Library.
