The San Marino Area Chapter of National Charity League marked its first general meeting of the year by holding its Hearts & Hands auction. The Hearts & Hands auction has been a part of the chapter for more than 10 years.
In addition to a portion of the proceeds from the group’s Main Street Attraction thrift store in Alhambra, 100% of the auction’s proceeds support the chapter’s scholarship program which awards grants to accomplished local young women headed to college.
This year’s auction also raised funds for a new scholarship award to be named in memory of Leslie Mar, a graduated NCL Ticktocker, who died in a hiking accident earlier this year. Mar was a dedicated member of the chapter and a bright light to all who knew her.
