San Marino High School’s class of 2019 stepped into the world of Harry Potter last Friday as it celebrated Grad Night. The traditional event, held immediately after commencement, is a highlight for every SMHS graduating class and is made possible by many volunteers, who devote countless hours to designing and creating elaborate sets.
The gym was converted into an elegant ballroom for dinner and dancing, while a stroll through a re-creation of Diagon Alley led to various games, including a casino in Gringotts bank. Students could visit the carnival rides and foam pit, take a rest in the Gryffindor House common room or pose for pictures with the many Harry Potter props. It was undeniably a night to remember for the graduates. The festivities were headed up this year by Donna Balbin, Jennifer Giles and Helen Kim Spitzer.
