Valentine Elementary School held a student Read-A-Thon fundraiser during the third week of October. As a school, the youngsters read more than 60,000 pages, and thanks to the generous contributions of family and friends, raised approximately $24,000 to help fund programs at Valentine. Read-A-Thon participants received a prize and signed a banner that included the name of their favorite book. Special congratulations to the three students who collected the most donations — Scarlett Yen, Winnie Luo and Ethan Morey — and to Denice Lindahl’s class for having 100% participation.
