The San Marino Garden Club recently kicked off the season with a luncheon at a local country club in Pasadena, welcoming two new members, Patricia Thvedt and Stephanie Ginn. Penny Pines honored three members for their preservation services in San Marino: Gretchen Shepherd Romey, Shirley Jagels and Marilyn Peck. Peck was also honored as Woman of the Year from Congresswoman Judy Chu. Decoration tips and tricks for holiday home entertaining were demonstrated by Jordi Stringfellow of Jordi & Co. The members and their guests witnessed how quickly Stringfellow and her assistant Cecilia Alvarenga effi-ciently changed table settings/room decor from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas, using many of the same elements from one to the other. The room was filled with members and guests having a great time catching up and learning new decorating tips for the upcoming holidays. On Tuesday, Nov.12, the SMGC will have a seasonal centerpiece hands-on workshop at the Crowell Public Library.
