The 2019 Grad Night Committee and parents of San Marino High School’s class of 2019 celebrated the annual kickoff to Grad Night preparations on Friday at the home of Karen and Bob Wicke. Guests were given a sneak peek at the artwork that will transform SMHS’ big gym, gym circle and upper basketball courts into “The Magical World of Harry Potter.” The 64-year-old Grad Night tradition was created to provide a safe venue in which the graduating seniors could celebrate. Each year, a community of volunteers comes together to create a magical and memorable experience for the graduating class; it is the community “hug” to the seniors. Grad Night 2019 will take place on Friday, May 31, immediately after graduation, and is chaired by Donna Balbin, Jennifer Giles and Helen Kim Spitzer. It takes a village to put on Grad Night, and all volunteers are welcomed to help create the magic of the event. Grad Night Light Up will take place on Wednesday, May 29, at 7:30 p.m., and the entire community is invited, excluding class of 2019 members.
