SMPD Has Home Burglary Suspect In Custody

The San Marino Police Department has a burglary suspect, Reginald Jufus Lamar Ross, 34, of Hawthorne, in custody.

Ross may be connected to a possible burglary late this morning at a residence in the 2400 block of Roanoke Road.

San Marino officers were on scene at the residence shortly after receiving the call of a possible burglary. The suspect and his accomplice broke into the home through a rear bathroom window after knocking on the front door for several minutes.

When the resident inside the home noticed the two burglars walking towards the rear yard, the resident locked himself in a bedroom and called a local family member for help. The family member confronted the burglars, who then fled the scene through the home’s rear door.

While San Marino Police Officers were investigating the scene, they received a notice from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department that sheriffs were in pursuit of a vehicle that may have been linked to the burglary suspects.

Officers caught Ross in Cerritos. They found handbags and other property in his car that did not belong to the San Marino resident. Officers are attempting to locate the owners of the handbags.

The San Marino resident and family member identified the two possible burglary suspects as either Latino or black men. One suspect was seen wearing a gray sweater with a hoodie and dark pants. The second suspect was described as wearing a dark-colored jogging suit.

Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact Detective Garcia of the SMPD at (626) 300-0726.
