Fire Department Brush Inspections Underway

The San Marino Fire Department will begin its annual brush inspections for properties in the city’s “very high fire hazard severity zone” during the third week of June.

The “very high fire hazard severity zone” is a designated area within the city containing about 90 properties that are at higher risk for ignition and spread of wildfire.

The fire department’s Wildland Fuel Management Program was established in 2018. Fire personnel conduct annual inspections of properties in the “very high fire hazard severity zone” to ensure clearance of hazardous vegetation and compliance with the city’s fire code.

Training Is Key for Firefighters

The San Marino Fire Department is continuing to focus on training efforts for its probationary firefighters. Training includes lessons on ventilation, salvage and overhaul and electro muscle stimulation, as well as how to properly use hose lays and portable fire extinguishers.
