San Marino City Council Adopts Budget Despite Public Comments Against It

The San Marino City Council adopted the city’s budget for fiscal year 2015-16 at their June 10 meeting despite comments from the public urging them to take a closer look at the numbers. Hal Harrigian raised several questions stating he felt there was not enough transparency. His main thoughts were that the city budget should be compared with cities that are more similar to San Marino and that the budget should be explained in a narrative form so the public and council members can understand it better.

“I just think we have to do a lot more homework on this before you approve the budget,” he said.

City council members generally agreed that they had spent enough time looking at the budget and felt comfortable with it. The budget passed unanimously.
