San Marino Chamber Hosts Police & Fire Luncheon, Honors Chan, Foth

By Stacy Lee

Two San Marino public safety officers were honored for their commitment to the community and their departments.

San Marino police Cpl. William Chan and Firefighter-Paramedic Nathan Foth were presented awards at the Eighth Annual Police & Fire Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 24 at San Marino Center. The event was hosted by San Marino Chamber of Commerce as an annual 9/11 remembrance. It also lauds one police officer and one firefighter who goes “above and beyond the call of duty to support the San Marino community.” The luncheon and ceremony pays tribute to those heroes lost during the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks by recognizing San Marino’s own local heroes, according to the San Marino Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s very unexpected to be receiving this,” Chan said. “I feel like everyone in the San Marino Police Department does a great job.” He thanked everyone for the award and said he was honored.

“For me the real honor of being up here is to know that the guys I work with are the ones who put me up,” Foth said. “When the guys you work with – your peers – vote for you as fireman of the year, it means a lot.”
