In support of the Titans, ASB organizes events to make school spirit reach a climax on Friday, Oct 9 when the football team plays their Homecoming game. This year, the Titans played the Temple City Rams in the Rio Hondo League opener. The team capitalized in early offense and lockdown defense, winning by a score of 56-6.

The Titans jumped on the board early, as senior quarterback Carson Glazier led the team down the field, with the offense smoothly executing every play. The drive ended with a play run for senior Mark Wicke, who ran for a four yard touchdown from the quarterback position, just minutes into the first quarter.

“We have a pretty dynamic offense, and getting on the board early just helps with our confidence” said senior Receiver JP Shohfi.

As the ball changed sides, the Titan defense got to work, stopping the Rams and forcing the first of many punts. This would prove to be one of the driving forces towards the win, as the Rams only had five first downs all evening.

“It gives us confidence (to hold teams to 6 points), but I still think we need to work over the next few weeks to get better” said senior linebacker Chaz Davis.

Going forward, the Titan offense started to flourish, as Junior Michael Chan scored on a seven-yard rush for his first of three touchdowns on the ninth and tenth touchdown of the year. The Titans led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Starting the second, Glazier then Shohfi for a 67 yard gain into the end zone, and making it 21-0. With 2:53 remaining in the first half, the Titans scored 21 points in the final three minutes, with two from Shohfi and one from Wicke. One of the touchdowns was a connection from Glazier to Shohfi, with the latter making an athletic one-handed grab as he fell into the end zone.
