Robbery Suspect in Custody

On Jan. 20 at approximately 4:46 p.m., the San Marino Police Department received a call of a possible PC 211 / Robbery that just occurred. Upon further investigation it was determined that suspect Kenneth Raymond Collins (Los Angeles, CA – DOB 11/16/1997) was exiting the MTA bus at Huntington Drive and San Gabriel Boulevard and forcibly took a cellphone from an elderly woman, who was also on the bus. Collins fled on foot, running down an alley behind the San Marino Post Office and onto westbound Huntington Drive.

A Good Samaritan saw Collins flee from the bus, followed by the elderly lady who was yelling for help. The Good Samaritan followed Collins in his vehicle on Huntington Drive, then chased Collins on foot until officers arrived. Officers arrived and found Collins hiding in a rear yard of a residence on Van Dyke Road.

Collins was taken into custody and placed into the back of a patrol car without incident.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with any additional information should contact Detective Gomez-Lara at (626) 300-0728.
