J.R. Dzubak, Elsie Hernandez, Jennifer Yeh, Corey Thomas, Tony Chou, Raymond Cheng, Maggie Lee, Erica Chang and Johnson Shyong were at a ceremony recently where the Chinese Club of San Marino made a $500,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs.

The Chinese Club of San Marino — with the support of Universal Sunlight Foundation — last week donated $500,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The funds will be used to help low-income families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are very grateful for the Universal Sunlight Foundation and its support of the Chinese Club during this critical time,” said Tony Chou, president of the CCSM. “We hope that more people can be encouraged to give back to the community and help those in need.”
San Marino resident Raymond Cheng, chairman of the Boys & Girls Clubs in the West San Gabriel Valley, said that that the donation will provide necessities and opportunities for the young people.
“Many children are unable to attend school due to the pandemic and the $500,000 donation comes just in time,” said Cheng. “This will help kids from around 8,000 low-income families to receive resources such as meals, access to computers and extracurricular classes.”
J.R. Dzubak, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs, expressed his appreciation to the CCSM and the Chinese community in San Marino.
“This will allow us to provide 6,000 meals per week for the kids and support them both mentally and emotionally,” Dzubak said.
