Carver Elementary Named Blue Ribbon School

San Marino’s Carver Elementary School has been named one of 367 schools in the nation that are recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2020, it was announced last week by Principal Michael Lin.

Principal Michael Lin thanked key community resources for the contributions that led to Carver Elementary School being named a National Blue Ribbon School.

Lin said that Carver was tabbed as an Exemplary High Performing School, while demonstrating gains in student achievement. Exemplary High Performing schools have their state’s highest achieving students, including the top 15% in English and mathematics as measured by state assessments.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
“The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of our educators, students, families, guardians, volunteers, district office, schools foundation, generous donors and San Marino community in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment where students master challenging and engaging content and where the faculty and staff share a unity of purpose to make a positive difference in all our students,” Lin said.
In addition to being a three-time California Distinguished School, this is the second time that Carver School has won the National Blue Ribbon School Award. Valentine Elementary School was named a Blue Ribbon School in 2015, according to Superintendent Jeff Wilson.
After being nominated in March, Carver underwent a comprehensive application process with the National Blue Ribbon Schools assessment panel.
“This year’s recognition is a testament to the continued excellence that we see in the learning culture at Carver School in the San Marino Unified School District,” said Lin.
