BPD Arrests Two on Suspicion of Murder Attempt

Two suspects were arrested this week in suspicion of trying to shoot and kill a man in Burbank on April 27.

Burbank police detectives conducted a search warrant in the 10000 block of Bluffside Drive in Studio City on Wednesday, arresting two residents of the city. Sgt. Emil Brimway of the Burbank Police Department said the pair was booked for attempted murder in connection with a shooting that occurred in the 4200 block of West Kling Street in Burbank last week.

In that April 27 incident, Burbank officers and paramedics received a report of a gunshot victim, finding him in the carport area of an apartment complex. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition as of last week, Brimway said. Brimway declined to say whether the man was a Burbank resident, saying the information had to be withheld for the victim’s safety.

The BPD identified the suspects as Sunni Kadijah Rasshad- Jahbari, 29, and Amaray Simone Matthews-Egerton, 26. Each suspect is being held on $2 million bail and both were scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Burbank detectives have determined that this incident was not random in nature and that the victim and suspects knew one another, according to Brimway.

This attempted murder investigation continues, Brimway said. No further details were available this week.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the BPD’s investigations division at (818) 238-3210.
