San Marino High School’s girls’ varsity basketball team used a balanced offensive attack and pressure defense to defeat Monrovia, 47-33, on Monday.
Freshman Kailey Woo led all scorers with 15 points and received help from junior Gianna Karkafi (12 points and nine rebounds), senior Elaina Lee (10 points and three assists) and sophomore Malia Yu, who scored eight points. Senior Elaine Wu scored a basket and also helped the team control the boards.
With the win, San Marino improved to 11-9 overall and 3-4 in the Rio Hondo League.
