Carver Students Show Off Their Moves at Dance-a-thon

There was a party-like atmosphere on campus on Thursday, March 9, as the SMHS Dance Team opened the first ever Carver Dance-a-thon, which replaced the school’s annual Jog-a-thon event.
Event co-chairs Carmen Vishwanath and Nina Darling said they wanted to bring the community together and provide students with an opportunity to have fun with a new experience.
Teachers at each grade level, TK through 5th grade, chose music, choreographed a dance which they practiced with their class and coordinated a color theme for the different grades.
Teachers also performed their own dance, along with Principal Stuart Caldwell’s brief performance, which produced excited laughter and applause from students and parents.
Additionally, San Marino Unified School District officials came out to support the lively event, which raised more than $29,000 for the enrichment programs at the school.
