San Marino Girls’ Soccer Battles Temple City to League Draw

San Marino High sophomore Athena Smith scored the lone goal as the Titans settled for a 1-1 draw in their Rio Hondo League matchup against Temple City on Jan. 12. Titans sophomore Makayla Tokuchi assisted Smith with the goal, and San Marino senior Calista Tan recorded nine saves in the game.

San Marino (5-1-1 overall, 1-1-1 in league) is in the hunt for the top spot in the Rio Hondo League standings. Monrovia and La Cañada both share a 2-1 league record and remain in contention for the league lead.

After a home league game against La Cañada on Jan. 17, the Titans will hit the road for a pair of pivotal matches, starting with a showdown against South Pasadena on Jan. 19.

San Marino concludes their road trip against Monrovia on Jan. 24. Both games are slated to kick off at 4 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

The Titans are still searching for their first Rio Hondo League victory following setbacks against Blair, 4-0, on Jan. 10, and Temple City, 4-2, on Jan. 12.

San Marino traveled to La Cañada for a road game on Jan. 17, and the Titans will follow that match up with a pair of home contests against league opponents South Pasadena on Jan. 19 and Monrovia on Jan. 24.
