Partnership for Awareness Welcomes Author for Virtual Discussion

Author Jessica Lahey will be the keynote speaker during a virtual presentation hosted by Partnership for Awareness.

Lahey will be discussing her novel “The Addiction Inoculation,” and the session aims to shed light on substance abuse prevention, offering practical insights for parents, educators and anyone involved in children’s lives.

In “The Addiction Inoculation,” Lahey draws on her personal experience, combining expertise with a humble approach to address the roots of substance abuse.

Born into a family with a history of addiction, Lahey shares her journey to overcome her genetic legacy, providing a relatable perspective for readers. The book, endorsed by renowned authors and experts, offers evidence-based strategies and practical tools to understand, support, and educate resilient, addiction-resistant children.

David Epstein, author of “The Sports Gene and Range,” commends Lahey’s approach.

“Hard and tremendously important conversations are at the core of ‘The Addiction Inoculation,’” Epstein said. “But thanks to Jessica Lahey’s wit, compassion, and beautiful writing, reading it feels like having those conversations with your most entertaining friend who also happens to be an expert in substance abuse research, education, and child development.”

Therapist Lori Gottlieb said substance abuse is a complex topic, but Lahey is able to “separate myth from reality.”

“As a therapist, I know I will be recommending her book to many families for years to come,” Gottlieb said.

“The Addiction Inoculation” provides age-appropriate and actionable guidelines, addressing various aspects from understanding a child’s risk for addiction to interpreting signs of early abuse. The book serves as a comprehensive resource for parents, teachers, coaches and pediatricians, offering valuable insights to raise healthy, happy and addiction-free children.

The meeting will be available over Zoom on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. Information for the session is available at the Partnership for Awareness website at partnershipforawareness.org.
