San Marino Cares’ Leo Helmy, a Huntington Middle School sixth grader, plans to host his third annual fundraiser “Funday” to benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Sunday, April 28, at Lacy Park.
All residents and local businesses are welcome to attend.
The annual fundraiser was initially created by Helmy to galvanize the local community in support of CHLA, one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals. Helmy has been serving as a junior ambassador at CHLA since 2017. San Marino Cares is now registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
“I was so happy to see so many of my friends and neighbors come out to support my previous fundraiser event,” Helmy said. “In my opinion, CHLA is the best hospital in the world as they do so much amazing work to help children and families. I hope that I am able to gather a bigger crowd this year. Please tell your friends and neighbors!”
According to CHLA’s website, the hospital has 6,500 employees and nearly 900 physicians, and relies on the generosity of community supporters to provide care to children and to increase awareness of their health issues.
To register for the event, families only need to make a donation to CHLA through the San Marino Cares website.
Local businesses can now support the event through tax-deductible donations. Upon making a contribution, they will be provided with all the necessary receipt documentation to ensure they can easily claim their donation as a tax deduction.
