Little League Receives Grant From Tournament of Roses Foundation

San Marino National Little League has received a $6,500 grant from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation to help fund the Coach Pitch Field improvement project at Valentine Elementary School.

The project will benefit the 5- and 6-year-old boys and girls who play in the Little League’s developmental Coach Pitch program in the spring. The Tournament of Roses Foundation awarded $200,000 in grants this year, with the Little League benefiting from one of its themes of funding local youth sports programs.

The Coach Pitch field, located behind the elementary school at 1645 Sherwood Road, needs a new backstop, new dugouts, and benches and stands for spectators, Little League officials said.

The project will provide a safer and more useful field for Little League programs to enhance the player and family experience, which will in turn encourage greater participation from families and ensure that players continue to compete in the older divisions, officials said.
