Kathryn Barger told The Tribune exclusively Tuesday that she definitely will enter the race to succeed 5th District Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. Term limits will force Antonovich to leave office in 2016. Antonovich has endorsed Barger for the seat on the Board of Supervisors.
Barger, who has served Antonovich since 1989, is current his Chief Deputy. The 54-year-old graduate of San Marino High emphasized her commitment to “continue the momentum [Supervisor Mike Antonovich] has built up over the years” to improve transportation, provide quality healthcare in County facilities and attract businesses to the Fifth District.
“Business growth helps everyone in the County. It gives us the resources to benefit all of our residents,” she said. “Los Angeles County is incredibly complex. Our operations affect everyone daily.”
