A woman died at Huntington Hospital on the morning of Monday, October 29, from injuries resulting from a single-vehicle traffic collision that took place in the area of Lorain Road and Windsor Road in San Marino.
Sally Irving, a former resident of San Marino who was most recently living in San Gabriel, is believed to have suffered a sudden medical condition when she crashed her vehicle into a large tree on the north side of Lorain Road, west of Windsor.
San Marino Police Department officers were called to the scene at approximately 9:40 a.m., according to SMPD Sgt. Robert Cervantes. When officers arrived, Irving was trapped inside the vehicle. She was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
“When I think of Sally, it is of her ever-ready smile,” said Winnie Reitnouer, former San Marino resident, said of her friend and Pi Phi sorority sister. “She was so sweet.”
Reitnouer told The Tribune that Irving was actively involved at San Marino Community Church and the Villa Esperanza Guild, among other charities.
The Pasadena Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Team also responded and is currently assisting San Marino Police Department in the investigation of the collision.
