Harry Morehouse Gage | Obituary

Harry Morehouse Gage passed away on September 17, 2021, in Pasadena, survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Barbara Jules Gage, daughter Sarah Gage and son Jonathan Gage, and two grandchildren.

He was born on October 6, 1927, in Clearwater, California, the son of Mary Mitchell Gage, MD, and Howard Park Gage, a Presbyterian minister.

He served during World War II in the Navy V12 flight officer training program, attending the Montana School of Mines and Colorado College, and after the conclusion of the war, graduated from Occidental College. He then graduated from Harvard Business School. He pursued a career in banking, culminating in the presidency of Pasadena First National Bank, and then as a consultant.

He was active in the San Marino Community Church. He worked to promote access to education in many ways, including a student scholarship program for camp from his father’s former church to the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Center at Lake Tahoe, a partnership of Pasadena City College with Montana Tech, and mentoring many in business and the ministry.

He was always excited to meet new people to have substantial conversations, having great faith in the power of the individual to make a difference in another person, and in society.

The memorial service will be held at the San Marino Community Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
