Obituary | Mae Stewart Powell

Mae Stewart Powell

1919-2020

Maezie wants everyone to know that her work here on earth is done. She was called to join her husband Roe for a new life of eternal dances, pumpkin growing, bridge games and reunions with many family and friends. Music, love and laughter will last forever. She never wasted a moment during her 101 years. Her love of travel was legendary, and her home reflected that passion. Even though 2020 has been a sad year for many, she lived to celebrate growing a record 731-lb. pumpkin and it made her so happy. She checked everything off of her bucket list. She was the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother as well as friend to countless people. Even though she was 101, it still seems too soon.

Mae will be dearly missed by her family that will be forever thankful to have known and loved such a wonderful character. She leaves behind her sons Jeff and Rocky; her daughters-in-law Kathleen and Kass; grandkids Kyle, Kelly, Riggs, Griffin & Dillon; great-grandkids Natalie & Justin.

She celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends at her house that she loved so much. She loved to dance, and her sons were lucky to have a last dance with Maezie.

Our family wants to thank Lynn and Brad Snowden as well as Pablo Contreras for constantly being there for Mae. A special thanks to her friend and caregiver Ethel De La Roca, who never left Mae’s side during her final days.

Mae lived her life to the fullest and inspired so many people.

Her motto … “To Live is to Dance, to Dance is to Live!”
