Incumbent Dennis Kneier will run for San Marino City Council again

Admitting “the blemish” of his June 2014 incident in which he tossed a discarded bag of dog waste onto a neighbor’s yard, San Marino City Councilman Dennis Kneier told The Tribune this week that he will defend his seat at the Tuesday Nov. 3 election later this year. Two spots on the five-person panel will be contested as Mayor Eugene Sun’s term will also expire.

Kneier said that he has been contacted by “a large number of residents” encouraging him to serve another term and that he “is humbled by this early outpouring of support.” After discussing a third term with his wife, Liz, and receiving her support, Kneier said “if elected, I would look forward to another four years of service to the residents of San Marino.”

The formal period for filing candidacy papers will open on July 13 and close on Aug. 7. Two other hopefuls – Scott Kwong and Dr. Steven Huang – have also announced their intention to run with rumblings of others to follow.
