Measure E Passes with 76 Percent Voter Support

By Mitch Lehman

The San Marino Unified School District’s Measure E – a special six-year, $865 per parcel tax vital to the business-as- usual function of California’s highest-rated unified school district – passed on Tuesday with 76.25 percent of the 2,628votes cast in assent. The parcel tax required a 2/3rds plus one majority vote for approval.

Measure E passed by a higher percentage, but with less total voters, than the original levy that was put before voters in May 2009, when the district faced a funding shortfall.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I sincerely express our gratitude to the community of San Marino for its continued commitment to the excellence of our public schools,” said School Board President Lisa Link.
