DRC Member Resigns, Feels Codes Too Strict

By Krista Daly

Valerie Flores recently resigned from the Design Review Committee citing her reason as San Marino’s response to the ongoing mansionization issue.

“With the City moving forward in a direction I consider to be misguided, I knew it was time for me to resign from the DRC. I do not want to be part of an overreaction to mansionization which threatens to do more harm than good,” she said.

In a statement sent to The Tribune, she said she believes the city’s reaction to the “mansionization crisis threatens to exacerbate the recent decline in San Marino’s real estate market.”

“I believe the most transparent and sound method of curbing mans ionization is to correct the obvious imbalance in the city’s zoning code,” she added.
