Moshir Details Rotary International Experience

By Stacy Lee

The Rotary International Conference was held this year in São Paulo – the most populous city in the Western Hemisphere.

Rotary Club of San Marino President-elect Gilda Moshir attended the conference from June 6-9 and shared her experiences at the club’s Aug. 27 luncheon.

Moshir traveled with her husband Mehrdad to the city that’s home to more than 11 million people.

“Overall, my impressions of the convention were that I was amazed at the diversity or the kaleidoscope of colors that were represented there in one place,” she said.

Moshir said she heard about many international projects that Rotary can help with and many personal stories on how Rotary has made a difference in people’s lives. She said she saw Rotary on a much grander scale.

“The convention is a place where ideas of projects are exchanged from clubs around the world and you become inspired by the work being done by Rotarians,” Moshir said. “It’s a place of friendship and fellowship, with workshops and plenary sessions and plenty of entertainment to keep the audience engaged and delighted with the sounds and scenery of Brazil.”
