San Marino Ambushes Monrovia 49-14, Plays Undefeated Tigers Tonight

Professional wrestling is not real, but last Friday night, the San Marino High School varsity football team drew authentic inspiration from one of its biggest stars before drubbing perennial Rio Hondo League champion Monrovia 49-14. Thus keeping alive their own dream of lifting the crown at the end of the season.

With the theme music for the WWE’s John Cena reverberating through Titan Stadium, San Marino proved ‘The Time Is Now,’ swarming the Wildcats early and often before a crowd bent on revenge.

“It was a night where we had a lot of things go our way,” said Head Coach Mike Hobbie, who checked off a win against the only Rio Hondo League team he had not beaten, and was previously the only league foe that had ever beaten him. “We made some big plays early in the game. I feel that kind of shocked them and knocked Monrovia off their game plan.”
